Obama's political toxicity on display today

Today, President Obama is flying to Milwaukee to mark Labor Day at a union picnic ("Laborfest"), at a far smaller venue than he used when marking the same event in 2008. Don't worry about a rambunctious crowd, protest signs, or any other indignities, though. Admission is by ticket only, with unions in charge of distribution.

Even more curious is the absence of left wing Senator Russ Feingold, facing re-election this year, and not showing a lot of strength in the polls. Patrick McIlheran, columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, has a witty column on the visit:

It's quite a party: Parade organizers were still looking for volunteers to help carry the giant protest puppets of the Earth Goddess and such. Pity, then, that Russ Feingold, the incumbent Democratic senator in a neck-and-neck race, can't hang out with the president. [....]

Many presidents fall in public esteem by mid-term, but with Obama, the change is more fundamental. What put him in office certainly wasn't experience, nor was it any explication of the agenda that, now revealed, has frightened off one in four of his voters. Rather, it was that he was the great center hope, a man to unite factions and span fissures. That's gone, say polls. The center no longer hopes in him, and so when he appears in a state where his party's senatorial and gubernatorial candidates are in deep trouble, he can appear only before a crowd heavy on AFSCME and SEIU.

Another way putting it is that Obama has been discovered to be a fraud. Once trust is lost, it is never easily regained. This is the stark reality of Democrat politics; their standard-bearer is toxic...

Some New Yorkers literally did drop dead nine years ago, because they chose to end their lives by falling from the top floors of the World Trade Towers rather than wait for the inferno to kill them by burning and asphyxiation. President Obama's Friday night declaration of support for the Ground Zero Mosque was a giant middle finger aimed at New Yorkers and America.

Now why would I think such a terrible thing about Our Obama? For an answer cast your mind back nine years to that day on September 11, 2001. You remember it. Some of your neighbors have succeeded in forgetting it, but you remember it.

Those 19 Jihadist mass murderers on 9/11 were the lifelong products of Saudi-sponsored Wahhabi propaganda. It's easy to summarize their message even without going to your local mosque, because in Tehran they've cut it down to six words: Death to Israel! Death to America!...

Those 19 hijackers were the products of lifelong propaganda, courtesy of our friends the Saudis. That is why they were able to cut the throats of flight attendants without even thinking about it -- with cheap utility knives, without a moment of hesitation or a thought of mercy...

Now what is interesting about our Current Occupant is that he's been subjected to lifelong propaganda himself. Once upon a time Barry Soetoro was a cute little tyke, no doubt, and then a whole bunch of adults -- Stalinists, Muslims, Jeremiah Wright -- subjected him to decades of consistent anti-American propaganda. . It's the one thing both the Stalinists and the Muslims could agree on: America No, Fidel Si!

If we could look into Obama's unconscious we would find all those slogans he's heard all his life, over and over and over again. They are just on automatic. They pop out if he doesn't ride herd on them.

President Obama has made a habit out of defying the will of the American people on a number of issues, from the stimulus to the slow response to the BP oil spill. In this aspect, the President is correct; we cannot deny anyone the right to worship. What is troubling about Obama's statement, and his support for the mosque, is his insincerity. The only time Obama has spoken of the importance of freedom of religion is in defense of Islam...

During his eight years in the White House, President George W. Bush was often described by liberals as being about halfway between an idiot and an imbecile. They told us he was so inarticulate -- so unable to express himself clearly -- that his very presence in the Oval Office was an embarrassment for the United States. Members of the White House press corps, spoofing a popular movie, called him the English Patient.

Yet no one, anywhere in the world, ever had trouble understanding what President Bush was saying.

President Obama, on the other hand, is invariably described by these same people as brilliant -- indeed, the most articulate carbon-based life form ever to have walked the Earth.

So how come every time President Obama opens his mouth to state his position on some issue -- as he did this weekend, speaking about his support for that mosque near Ground Zero -- the White House scrambles to issue a 'clarification' -- followed less than a day later by an 'elaboration' of the clarification"

Come to think of it, President Bush speaks twice as many languages as President Obama. (To be precise, two.) Oh, and in eight years President Bush never said anything even remotely as stupid as President Obama's comment that people in Austria speak Austrian.

Perhaps we should put less effort into forcing the release of President Obama's original long-form birth certificate, and more effort into forcing release of his IQ. Anyone want to take my bet that it'll be lower than George W. Bush's?"
