Has the Obama Presidency jumped the shark?

President Obama has made a habit out of defying the will of the American people on a number of issues, from the stimulus to the slow response to the BP oil spill. His latest political blunder, however, may be one that sweeps his administration, and his fellow Democrats, out of power much sooner than they expected.

Like the noted TV show cliché, Obama's defense of the Ground Zero mosque, despite all common sense, may be the "jump the shark" moment in which he loses all credibility with the American public.

Obama's statement in support of the Ground Zero mosque has shown a disturbing double standard.The President argued that our rights under the "Freedom of Religion" clause in the First Amendment allow for the mosque. “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable,” he said when giving his backing to the mosque.

In this aspect, the President is correct; we cannot deny anyone the right to worship. What is troubling about Obama's statement, and his support for the mosque, is his insincerity. The only time Obama has spoken of the importance of freedom of religion is in defense of Islam...
